The menu is a true treasure trove for those seeking something off the beaten path. The guyurou laghman (新疆拌面) is an absolute must-try—imagine thick, hand-stretched noodles tangled in a beautifully spiced lamb sauce, each mouthful bursting with smoky, savory depth. Equally enticing is the central Asian manty (皮包子), steamed dumplings generously stuffed with tender lamb, chives, and pumpkin, melting in your mouth with each bite.
Appetizer lovers will find joy in the crispy yet succulent fried wantons with beef or spinach, and the baursaq (Kazakh-style fried donut) offers a delightful balance of light, airy texture and subtle sweetness. For a heartier option, the stir-fried lamb with cumin captivates with its smoky, fragrant allure, a dish that lingers pleasantly on the palate long after the last bite.
One of the standout crowd-pleasers, as echoed by numerous delighted diners, is the tashkent plov: a harmonious blend of aromatic rice, lamb, and sweet carrots, offering a soulful expression of Uzbeki flavors. The subtle sweetness contrasts perfectly with savory meat, making every forkful a comforting journey through Central Asia.
Regulars rave about the impeccable combination of taste and service. Olivia Chin, a returning guest, praises the freshly baked samsa and soft, pillowy naan, while also noting the staff's warm recommendations that make every visit a personalized adventure in flavor discovery. Another enthusiast, Vasu Kuram, calls the cumin lamb "probably my favorite lamb dish I’ve had," evocatively describing the unmistakable smokiness that defines the dish's character.
The dining experience extends beyond just the food. Laghman Express maintains a cozy, approachable vibe with both indoor and outdoor seating, inviting diners to relax and savor each dish slowly or grab an expertly crafted meal on the go. Moreover, the restaurant has garnered well-deserved recognition, including mentions by the New York Times as one of the top restaurants in NYC—a testament to its rising reputation for quality and authenticity.
Laghman Express also offers traditional drinks such as black tea and green tea, which perfectly complement the spice and richness of the main courses. This is my second visit here and I will definitely be coming back for more! The samsa and naan were fresh and soft, the cumin lamb was flavorful and the new dish tashkent plov is a nice combination of sweet and savory with the carrot and lamb. The waitress was also really nice in recommending us what to try and what is popular.
The food at this restaurant is nothing short of exceptional, boasting vibrant flavors and exquisite presentation. The service is equally impressive, with attentive staff who ensure a delightful dining experience. Additionally, the portions are generous, providing great value for reasonable prices. I truly have no complaints—this place exceeds expectations in every way.
Went to the 20th Avenue and 62nd street location of laghman express in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn nyc. Written up by the ny times in 24 and 25 as one of the top nyc restaurants. Central Asian cuisine: laghman, chechvera and compote. Phenomenal food. Indoor and outdoor seating. Great staff! 3% credit card fee
our first time trying Uyghur cuisine and we’re obsessed. we got the cumin lamb, boiled noodles, meat manti, and the plov. they were all so good. the cumin lamb has such a smokey flavor. probably my favorite lamb dish i’ve had.
I wish I took more pictures but sometimes when the food is so amazing you forget about all that and get straight to inhaling the food lol. This spot is my standout find of the year in ny. I thought the reviews would be bs, I was wondering how good can noodles be, I did not know I’d find my favorite noodle dish of my life this day. My plan wasn’t even to have this I sort of just experimented and little did I know I found one of my favorite spots of the year overall and for sure my favorite spot in nyc. Their hand pulled noodles are next level, I loved pretty much everything about the experience and they are definitely deserving of the great reviews. If you’re wondering if you should try this trust me you will not regret it.
I went in and ordered almost $50 worth of food thinking I would take some leftovers home to have as lunch tomorrow but the food was so delicious I ended up finishing it all in one sitting. My food came out to me so fast and the service was absolutely phenomenal. The central Asian staff that works here are an exemplary example of Turkic hospitality. I understand why this place was in the New York Times top 100 two years in a row. Do yourself a favor and eat here.
Wonderful food. The lamb manty had a very rich tasty filling that paired well with the fresh herbs and sour cream. The crispy fried eggplant was an unexpected delight. We opted for two of the most popular hand pulled noodle dishes, and both were excellent. I would recommend the lamb over the beef - but I am partial to lamb. The server was very friendly and helpful. Portions are huge, we had tons of leftovers to bring home!
I've never really had this kind of cuisine before, but everything was absolutely amazing! The waitress was so nice, I asked her for recommendations and she didn't fail me the flavor was sooo good, I loved the lamb, the mini dumplings, and the noodles. I can't wait to come back and try out the other dishes!
